Making energy-efficient improvements before selling your home can save you thousands of dollars.
According to SellingUp’s survey, low energy efficiency ratings may cost the vendor money. Over half (59%) of the potential buyers polled said they would reduce their offer on a property with a low score. More than a third (36%) said the offer reduction would be in the thousands, while 16% considered withdrawing entirely.
Before putting your property on the market, consider some cost-effective improvements to help lower ongoing fuel bills.
It is relatively simple to insulate your home, including the roof, loft, and attic. According to Energy Saving Trust estimates, making changes to insulation can result in annual savings of up to £240.
Boilers are estimated to account for more than half (55%) of your annual energy bill. So, by replacing an old G-rated boiler with an A-rated condensing boiler with heating controls, you could save approximately £340 on your fuel bills. To achieve even greater annual savings, combine a new boiler with double glazing, loft insulation, wall insulation, and other recyclable energy appliances.
People who buy older homes and commercial properties understand that they are paying higher fuel bills than necessary. According to the SellingUp survey, energy efficiency is a top priority to consider when selling a home. Green initiatives can assist people in making their homes more energy efficient, reducing waste, and enjoying warmer living conditions.
